Kathryn Boyd Brolin is a director, photographer, actress, model and fashion designer who draws from her many artistic pursuits to bring a focus on storytelling and portraiture through cinematic lighting and unique compositions. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and now based in Santa Barbara, California, Boyd Brolin has a confident and distinctive style that seamlessly navigates between the grit and patina of the Americana lifestyle and the upscale elegance of the celebrity and fashion worlds.
Boyd Brolin directs both commercial and narrative projects, including brand spots, music videos and short films. Her most recent narrative short, “Mother’s Day,” a film she wrote, directed and starred in, debuted at Hollyshorts and made its way through the festival circuit, receiving several accolades including Best Narrative Short, Best Actress and Best Editing from the LA Film Awards. She is currently in development on her first feature film.
Boyd Brolin’s celebrated photography work includes cover shoots and feature spreads, often with celebrity talent such as Chris Stapleton, Paul Bettany, Tyler the Creator, and her husband Josh Brolin, for publications including Billboard Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, The Rake, Numero, Men’s Journal and more. She has served as an ambassador for Leica Camera since 2020 and was exhibited at the prestigious Leica Gallery in Los Angeles in 2023. In summer of 2025, she was commissioned to shoot the whimsical cover of Barbra Streisand’s album, The Secret of Life.
In addition to her directing and photography work, in 2018 Boyd Brolin launched her boutique luxury denim line, MIDHEAVEN, and went on to create successful collabs with Cynthia Rowley and interior design duo, Pierce and Ward. In her spare time she loves to surf, spend time in nature on a family ranch in Central California, and travel with her husband and two young daughters.
